Our journey began at the University of Oxford, where sonographer Ross Upton, M.D., saw the potential of AI to address longstanding challenges in echocardiography.
Echocardiography is one of the most important tools in cardiovascular care. But interpretation can be subjective and time consuming, and in complex disease, the signals can be subtle. As a result, clinically important findings can go unrecognized.
Working alongside Professor Paul Leeson, Ross developed an AI approach designed to move beyond automating measurements and instead help identify disease directly from routine echocardiography. That research became the foundation of EchoGo and the beginning of Ultromics.
Nearly a decade later, Ultromics is live in leading U.S. hospitals, with three FDA clearances, two breakthrough device designations, published clinical evidence, established reimbursement pathways, and support from world-renowned partners including Mayo Clinic, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, and FNIH.
